eTouchDB Web Application Generator
eTouchDB Generator is the a Great FREE Add-on tool to help generate eTouchDB Web Applications in a matter of minutes. You can build a web database application in a matter of 5 easy steps.
After the database and table has been selected, choose how you would like the eTouchDB Code to be Generated. The code has its advantages when generating the template vs. in the ASP file directly. If generated in the template mode, the Web Developer can quickly and easily change field viewing, editing and display options without having to write any ASP (Active Server Pages) Code. If you choose to generate using the ASP file, then most likely you are an advanced Web Developer and would like to individually control each property using the power of VBScript, JavaScript and ASP. Once connectivity issues and code generation type has been set, now select what version of eTouchDB that you are using either Standard or Professional Edition. Step 2 - Setting Field Properties in each display mode. As shown below each field value can be viewed, edited or added in three different display modes. (Grid, Form and Filter) If working in the grid mode, eTouchDB can edit one record at a time or multiple records at any one time. If in Form more, you can only edit one record at a time and usually in form view you can show more record detail.

Step
1 - Project Setup and Code Generation Type. Select
a Project Name then select either an ODBC connection and Table or upload a
Microsoft Access Database directly into the eTouchDB Generator. If you
upload a Access database then select which table you wish to work with after the
file has been upload. Note: The file upload process using another Business
eTouch product call eTouch WebFileUpload.

Step
4 - Setting Grid and/or Form Navigation and Command Buttons. You can
control through the grid and form templates how you wish to navigate around the
database records and fields. You can also choose weather you wish to
display graphic buttons or text hyperlinks for each of the navigation
commands. If you are editing in grid mode, then you have the option to
edit all records all the same time being displayed or just edit one record at
a time. Other commands are Grid Filters, Sorting and Form Filter Display
for
total customization along with Viewing Record numbers and Page numbers.
Step
5 - Running your Web Application, Showing the Source Code and Downloading to
your web location. Congratulations!, you have developed your first
eTouchDB Web Application in only a few minutes. Depending on what forms
you wished to display, you could have as many as four different files. The
main ASP file, Grid Template, Form Template and Filter Template. With each
of these files you can view the source code generated, download the file to your
system or Run the Application that you have generated. Because the
Generator works so quickly, you can use the Browser 'Back' button to go back and
make any changes and create a new set of templates.
